In this article, I take a look at the best and worst of the best tourist attractions in Maryland and offer my thoughts on why it is that these destinations are all out of the Washington Metro area.
I start with the state’s biggest cities, Washington, Baltimore, and Prince George’s counties.
Then, I go to the other three counties that border Washington, DC, and DC, Baltimore City, and Montgomery County.
I then consider the three tourist attractions that are within a half hour’s drive from the city of Washington, with the caveat that those two are not included in the national map because they are located in rural areas and thus do not show up in my rankings.
I conclude with a brief review of the three largest counties in the DC metro area, Fairfax County, Prince George and Howard counties, and Baltimore City.
